Li-Han Eliza Tseng is a professional cellist and educator. Ms. Tseng serves as the principal cellist at Orchestra Nova LA. Her musical training began in Taiwan with piano at age 6 and cello at age 12. She was so interested in music that decided to audition for the gifted classes in middle and high schools. Ms. Tseng earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the National Taichung University of Education, where she was a member of the National Taiwan Youth Symphony Orchestra and was awarded a scholarship to study for a summer at the Internationales Musikkonservatorium Graz.

Ms. Tseng received the Doctor of Mucial Arts degree in cello performance at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music, recipient of a Graduate Incentive Scholarship. Her mentors include Yehuda Hanani (well-known for his critically acclaimed recording of J.S. Bach: Six Suites) and Lee Fiser (cellist of the LaSalle Quartet, 1975–87). Ms. Tseng was also a cello instructor at Northern Kentucky University, Music Preparatory, and performed in Chamber Orchestra, Asian Youth Orchestra, Gonggeng Music Academy, and Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. Prior to Cincinnati and Kentucky, she completed her Master of Music degree from the University of North Texas (UNT) under the instruction of Nikola Ruzevic (the director of the Upbeat International Music Festival, Japan). During her master’s study, she was awarded a scholarship from the UNT College of Music, taught in the UNT–String Project, and performed at Manchester Music Festival.

As a passionate educator, Ms. Tseng has an extensive teaching background with over 12 years of experience working with musicians of all ages and skill levels. Her belief is that every student has the potential to further their musicianship. She assists her students to achieve their individual goals. In her teaching, she emphasizes a healthy, respectful, and positive learning environment. Ms. Tseng hopes to make music more accessible to diverse audiences as she believes that music can connect people and build a positive community.
